Just a assumption tho, because thats how dell hp & Asus & IBM are.Īnswer:BSOD on new Supermicro Server - Need Verification Anyway, I've exhausted my google-fu on this one, I'm sure I'm missing something blatantly obvious.ĭon't you have to setup a ip for it ? with some, you have to setup a ip that you connect to, I'm assuming it's bad, usually things that are wrong are bad. When I check the LAN configuration settings in the BIOS it always shows "Channel Number Status:Wrong Channel Number" and I can't figure out what this means. The thing never gets a DHCP address and I can't set a static IP on it from the BIOS, you apparently have to do that from the IPMI configuration utility or the web interface which would require it to be connected to the network. This motherboard uses a shared LAN connection for IPMI, I've tried both NICs without success, making sure to remove power to fully initialize the IPMI/BMC before trying again. It's enabled in the BIOS, all the jumpers are where they should be. I don`t wany anything for nothing here, but I refuse to be ripped off again by good old rip-off-Britain!!Īnyone here use SuperMicro IPMI? I scored a slightly used X7SPE-HF motherboard/D510 combo and cannot get IPMI to work on the silly thing. Or even anyone wishing to sell one they already have. I`ve even been on the phone to Supermicro themselves (in the UK, I`m not made of money!) and it was they who suggested the EHF model, apparently that`s the one that comes with the correct riser to fit an add-on card with.Īnyway, anyone with any info regarding suppliers in the UK for reasonable money or even a US supplier that will ship to UK for reasonable money please help me out here. I`m lost, I can`t see why something that costs $x in USA when brought over here becomes £xxx. Now has them (as per link above) for a little short of $360 which translates roughly to £226.81! The first is availability, trying to source this system in the UK is a nightmare, and the second is that when I do find one they want silly money for it.įor instance I found a supplier who could get one with the shortest lead time (3-5 days) they wanted £395.05 with taxes which is roughly $522.23

OK, I`m all set to upgrade my old Compaq IPCop to a much better, neater and more powerful system (the 5015a-ehf from Supermicro) but two main problems are hindering me.
